A soft heart for pyramids

Have you all been watching the news from Egypt and relishing the outcome? I am delighted they are able party especially after watching the earlier violence but wonder what next. Wouldn't it be great if all those idealists actually got their country to work for them and show how they could improve their lot on their own without foreign intervention! Gives me thoughts on what's happening here with our own sorry version of democracy. Close libraries, sell woodland, curtail Sure Start, put a huge price on higher ed. and further destroy adult ed. while simultaneously questioning us on our happiness feelings and sense of well-being. Have they all gone mad? Apparently Mubarak has got £42 bn. squirreled away, some of it here in one of our banks - RBS. It could clear Egypt of all debt and they could start afresh. And we would have to bail out another bank and sell off the Queen - so enmeshed are we all in this fetid capitalism.

A hopeful new year

Hi anyone out there, I have been persuaded to set up this blog by my daughters - I think so I will stop bothering them with my opinions and memories! The blog domain and title are meant to be ironical in case you missed that...except I do feel communicating with friends does have relevance to my life. I wish anyone reading this a healthy and hopeful new year and I promise to keep all opinions short.
